The Last Willow

Comments Off on The Last Willow
I was called back to a forlorn forest
I had often visited in my youth
Full of bygone fellings
Home to the last willow
Where the last drops of dew
Seeped into the barren
You outlasted them all

Standing with my hand on your dried out trunk
I recall the days when this field did thrive
Long before my time came
Where your own dreams did dance
When seeded hopes blossomed
A new future was forged
Yours outlasted them all

I wonder where did those dreams disperse to
What became of all those closely held hopes
Suddenly remember
The shadow of your shade
The dreams you dreamt with me
Hopes you tore from your heart
Sowed them deep into mine

You dreamt once of how I could tame the stars
Rearrange their brilliance to shine shared name
All you cherished to see
Now left alone to me
A brand new age rolls on
And I know you would not
Have me to idly weep

When you have so lovingly willed to me
All of the gifts of passed generations
Reaping these long sowed seeds
Realizing drawn out dreams
Knowing far in the back
In a seat I can't see
You resting now...smiling

Home

Comments Off on Home
My soul stretches out
Towards the place of repose
Ever fading o'er the horizon
Moving on from dusty reveries
Of times and places
Ground into gravel
Swept away by the wind
Which whispers the solace
There exists a place apart
For the harrowed heart

Siren Night

Comments Off on Siren Night
The first time we kissed I
Felt the swirl of disparate
Colours colliding onto
A canvas we painted
With our breath, leaving sleep
To the worn memories
That inhabit our days
As the riot of our
Love tussled under rays
Selene had showered down
To guide us through our craze

And when the sail of a
Different wind came and took
You away, I unleashed
My heart to run adrift
These rampant rolling waves
Letting sea spray disguise
The tears I could not shake
Drifting into salt spray
Towards the inviting night
Which promises only
To linger hopes so bright

Desire Slept

Comments Off on Desire Slept
The stains hidden behind
Magellanic clouds dispersing
Time bent filaments
Stretching out through inward pressure
Coursing down that wanton fissure
Spark the fight within
Devouring west with east
Following the shadow of the sun
Stark eyes alight to shine
The widowed greeting revealing
Plastered features now undone

Dichotic Foils

Comments Off on Dichotic Foils
The child imagines things through an infinite lens
The man realizes things through aggregate sins
The child rages out of every obstacle
The man eases into thoughts logical
The child waits anxiously for due love
The man finds in it of himself true love

Pith Paralyzed

Comments Off on Pith Paralyzed
I watched the fireflies
Dance in the light of
  Their love

Heard hidden songbirds
Sing in the chorus of
  Tree boughs

Felt the wandering wind
Coursing in the space of
  Unbound thoughts

Sitting in remaining space
Wondering to myself what
Was the butcher's bounty
For this aged heart

The Wintering

Comments Off on The Wintering
Storm clouds clasping overhead
Signaling the new turn to
Slow breaths boiling into open air
Chattering bones longing for the
Stilled warmth of fallen giants

Finding refuge in
A seasoned hermitage
Learning to release
To the freezing winds
Ashes rendered from the
Ink of pages past

Shedding the shadows
Lifting the pen
In silent seclusion
A moment to pull
From future's fire
Bittersweet transformation
That needed the heavy
Air of reclusion

Goodbye

Comments Off on Goodbye
I made a promise once
Delivered on solemn terms
To disrupt the discourse
That had damaged that which
I only sought to serve

Memories fade
Moments escape me
Bits of lightning come back
To strike me a vision of what
Time had scattered

But those final words
That last encounter
Etched its way through
Hazy reveries, embedding upon
The foundation which thoughts form

And yet, O yet
This final word
Will drift off lightly
Barely off the lips
Before fading to mist
